Thanks for your interest in the future Lyonia Environmental Center (formerly referred to as the Environmental Learning Center at Lyonia Preserve). We’re glad you’ve logged on and hope you have an enjoyable and informative visit to this web site.

Construction on the Deltona Regional Library began in June, 2008, and will be completed in fall, 2009. The expansion of the library adds another 25,000 square feet to the site.  Lyonia Environmental Center (LEC) will occupy 4,000 square feet of the expansion.  The LEC will include two classrooms, exhibition space, a visiting scientist's workroom, and a coffee and gift shop.  An outdoor amphitheater will be constructed next to the library for community gatherings and educational instruction.

In keeping with Volusia County's commitment to the environment the LEC and the library expansion will be the County's first "green" certified building.

It's exciting watching the facility come together.  There's more about the facility on The Vision page.

Our Mission: The Lyonia Environmental Center will provide visitors with a unique insight into Volusia County’s fragile ecosystems. The center will promote an understanding of the county’s natural environment, the heritage it sustains, and the challenges it faces.

We look forward to seeing you at the LEC as soon as our doors are open!
