The year 2007 brought the first organized speaker series to Lyonia Preserve. Working with the Florida Humanities Council, the Environmental Learning Center offered environmentally themed seminars to the Deltona Regional Library. The speakers emphasized various aspects of our local surroundings and how the environment has shaped our history and heritage. Speaking during the first part of 2007 were:

At the Deltona Regional Library on Sat., Oct. 27, 2007 from 2 p.m.

Children’s activities (costume party, costume fashion show, songs) will be offered in the children’s library while adults enjoy the Speakers Series.

Program: An Evening with Magda and Herb Hiller – Songs and Stories about the St. Johns River from the father/daughter duo

Other: light refreshments available; Program concludes around 9 p.m.

Fee: $10 in advance, $12 at the door

Program 1: Eating Healthy in Volusia County seminar - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Location: Volusia County Agricultural Center
